The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma's 2019 Oklahoma Civil War Symposium will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 in the Davis Hall Little Theater. The symposium will feature three renowned Civil War scholars discussing wide-ranging aspects of the conflict. The final speaker will take the stage at 7 p.m. and a book signing with all three presenters will follow.


  • 2-3:15 p.m.: Dr. Lee Hester, Professor at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma
  • 3:30-4:45 p.m.: Dr. Chris Mackowski, St. Bonaventure Professor and Editor-in-Chief of "Emerging Civil War"
  • 5-6:30 p.m.: Reception with the speakers. USAO Regents Room (2nd floor of the Student Center). Registration required
  • 7 p.m. Dr. George Rable, Professor Emeritus at the University of Alabama and winner of the Gilder Lehrman Lincoln Prize

A book signing will follow the keynote speaker.
