Alexis Vizarelis Assistant Men's Soccer Coach
Alexis Vizarelis is an Assistant Coach for the men's soccer teams. He has been with USAO's soccer program since it began in 1998, first as one of the school’s best goalkeepers and then as an assistant under Head Coach Jimmy Hampton.
While coaching at USAO, Vizarelis has helped develop players to become NAIA All-Americans and serves as recruiting coordinator and goalkeeper coach for the programs.
His goalkeeping ability and defensive philosophy is almost unprecedented. Hampton has said Vizarelis is one of the best goalkeepers he’s seen and someone who has made a difference coaching USAO goalies.
As a player, Vizarelis is one of the most decorated goalkeepers in USAO’s history. At one time, he has held every school goalkeeping record.
Vizarelis’ best overall season came in 1998 when he collected 202 saves, a 1.32 goals against average and 17 wins to go along with six shutouts. That year, he helped the Drovers to an 11-5 record in the team’s first season.
His final season, he allowed 27 goals on 168 shots against him while starting in nearly every game.
For his career (1998-2001) Vizarelis notched 21 shutouts, which is also a school record. He posted a 1.41 career goals against average.
In addition to his coaching position at USAO, he is currently the director of goalkeeping for the Oklahoma Football Club, the largest club in the state.
In February 2007, Vizarelis was inducted into the USAO Athletic Hall of Fame.
Vizarelis is a native of Chemsford, Essex, near London. He and his wife, former USAO basketball star Janice Corkery, live in Edmond. The couple has one son, Dimitri.
