USAO Showband Dance

The Showband will take its polished big band sound off campus for a dance scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on April 18 at the Chickasha Elks Lodge. The event is free and open to the public.

The Elks Lodge is located at 1818 Country Club Drive.

The USAO Showband performs under the direction of Joe Settlemires.

The band is slated to perform a wide variety of material, including rock and roll, country, swing and jazz standards.

Droverspirit Concert Band

The Droverspirit Concert Band will perform classic marches & contemporary music on Thursday April 10, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. in the Te Ata Memorial Auditorium. In addition, The Key Players Of USAO will showcase classic rock of Chicago, Elton John, Deep Purple and The Who.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Guest Voice Faculty Recital

East Central and USAO music departments will join forces to support the Resurrection House. Dr. Melody Baggech and Dr. Lark Powers of East Central University, and USAO's Dr. Ken Bohannon will team up in a fund raiser concert for the Resurrection House homeless shelter. The concert will be at the USAO Alumni Chapel on Sunday, April 13, at 3pm. Although the concert is free and open to the public, donations for the Resurrection House will be accepted at the door.

Vocal Jazz Ensemble Concert

The University of Science and Arts Vocal Jazz Ensemble will bring a taste of New Orleans to Chickasha during its upcoming concert, titled “New Orleans Bound,” scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, in the USAO Alumni Chapel.

The event is free and open to the public.

In addition, the ensemble will travel to New Orleans, with small performances along the way, and ultimately performing at the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park on May 1.

Concert Choir Spring Concert

The USAO Concert Choir will present a performance of choral music, ranging from sixteenth-century Renaissance madrigals to new music by young composers. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, in the Alumni Chapel at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

The concert will also feature pieces conducted by student directors.

The choir will perform under the direction of Dr. Jan Hanson, professor of music.

Robert Perou, a senior music education major from Elgin, will conduct “May Night” by German composer Johannes Brahms.
