2017 Schedule

January 19 – February 10
The Children’s Zoo – An exhibit designed for kindergarten – fourth grade students. This exhibit is set-up for a 3’6” eye-level viewer, so it’s perfect for children. We have selected animal and exotic (long ago and faraway lands) pieces from the USAO Permanent Collection. Schools or parents may set up reservations for children to attend this exhibit. Walk-ins are always welcome, but for this show we recommend reserving a time for groups of 15 or more. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
 
February 18 – March 10
Contemporary Paintings by Blake Morgan – Recent Artwork by Artist Blake Morgan, USAO assistant professor of art. A reception will be held Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Nesbitt Gallery. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
 
March 25 – April 21
2017 Bachelor of Fine Arts Graduating Senior Exhibition – Works by USAO graduating senior BFA candidates for spring 2017, as well as the summer and fall 2016 BFA graduates. Winners of the “Angus Kent Lamar Award of Excellence” will be announced at the opening reception. The reception will be held Saturday, March 25 at 7 p.m. in the Nesbitt Gallery. Refreshments and heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
 
June 10 – July 14
Contemporary Works by Bert Seabourn – Recent works by renowned Oklahoma artist Bert Seabourn. Seabourn was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2015. A reception will be held Saturday, June 10 at 7 p.m. in the Nesbitt Gallery. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
 
August 26 – September 15
The Artwork of Joeallen Gibson – Recent artwork by Oklahoma City artist Joeallen Gibson. Gibson was the recipient of a Purchase Award in the “2013 Seven-State Biennial Exhibition.” A reception will be held Saturday, August 26 at 7 p.m. in the Nesbitt Gallery. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
 
September 23 - October 20
2017 Seven-State Biennial Exhibition – The Nesbitt Gallery’s popular Seven-State Biennial will be exhibited for the eighth time since 2001. This is a juried regional art exhibit that brings artists from all over Oklahoma, as well as the six contiguous states that border it: New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas. A reception will be held saturday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. in the Nesbitt Gallery. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
 
November 4 – December 1
The Sculptural Works of William Cannings – This show features the unique sculptures of acclaimed artist William Cannings. Cannings is currently the chair of the sculpture department at Texas Tech University.
