Betty LaPierre Oct. 6, 1939 - Jan. 18, 2014 Resident of Sunnyvale Betty Maxine Sullivan LaPierre passed away January 18, 2014. She was born to Robert Leroy Sullivan Sr. and Charlie Evelyn Jones in Chickasha, Oklahoma on October 6, 1939. She was raised in Chickasha, but moved to California in 1960. Betty attended the Oklahoma College for Women and the University of Oklahoma, graduating with a BS degree in Speech Therapy. Early in life she enjoyed painting but gave most of them away as gifts. She was an avid reader and also loved to fish. At one time, she owned a Used Book business dealing mainly in signed and rare books, but phased it out to focus on writing - an additional passion. Besides raising her three loving sons, and her 44 year marriage to Don LaPierre, the achievement she was most proud of was authoring and publishing more than 15 suspense/thriller novels, including the acclaimed Hawkman mystery series. She adored her family as well as the challenge of plotting an exciting story. She is survived by her husband Don LaPierre, her sons Kevin and Stan Erwin, and Thomas LaPierre, her grandchildren Joshua, Nichole, Grant, and Matthew Erwin, her mother Charlie Evelyn Sullivan, her brother Robert Sullivan and sister Carol Rainwater. She leaves behind friends at the Wednesday Writers' Society, writing colleagues and fans of her novels. She was preceded in death by her father Robert Sullivan Sr. and her first husband Louis Odell Erwin. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered as "Queen Mother" by her family. A memorial service will be held March 1, 2014 at Saint Simon Catholic Parish, 1860 Grant Road, at 12:30 p.m
