WALTERS - Funeral for Ruth Aline Hoodenpyle, 98, Walters, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, with the Rev. Mike Bernhardt officiating.
Mrs. Hoodenpyle died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, in Walters. Burial will be at Walters Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 24, 1906, in Willow Grove, Tenn., to Dr. Thomas Leo and Cora E. Johnson Willis.
She came to Granite with her family in 1910. There she graduated from high school in 1924, and graduated from Midwestern University, Wichita Falls, Texas, and from Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts, Chickasha.
She married Ernest Franklin Hoodenpyle on Jan. 21, 1928, in Anadarko. She taught school for 30 years in Cotton County and in Walters Public Schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Walters.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Ernest Hoodenpyle Jr., and his wife, Judy; and Ray and Shirley Hoodenpyle, all of Walters; and Ralph and Carol Hoodenpyle, Lawton; a brother: Charles Willis, Kerrville, Texas; six grandchildren: Cindy Landis, Russell Hoodenpyle, Mike Hoodenpyle, Ralph Wayne Hoodenpyle, Denise Tulloh, and Zac Hoodenpyle; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984; her daughter: Doris Ann in 1940; an infant son: James Richard; two brothers: Feldman and Bradley Willis; and a sister: Katherine Mann. Memorial contributions may be made to the Walters First Baptist Church Building Fund, the Walters Education Foundation or the Walters Cemetery Association.
