Irby named USAO Employee of the Year

President John Feaver and Regent Chris Mosley present Kirk Irby with the Staff Employee of the Year award.

Irby named USAO Employee of the Year

Kirk Irby, groundskeeper, was awarded the Regents Staff Achievement Award Employee of the Year just a month after earning the award for the fourth quarter.

Irby was notified of his award after the Regents’ meeting in September.

One nominee said that Kirk “has a positive attitude about life and his work,” and continued that he “always has a smile and a kind word for everyone he comes in contact with.”

“Irby does a great job at all tasks that are asked of him,” noted one nominee.

President John Feaver noted how important the appearance of campus is to public perception and public appearance. “Irby is one of the key people who keeps this campus looking the way it does,” Feaver said “and folks compliment the campus constantly on the extraordinary yard work that is done here.”

Feaver is not only impressed by the work ethic, but by Irby’s smiling face. “I like him because he’s always friendly to me when I pass him in the morning.”

The Regents Staff Achievement Award is presented quarterly to one outstanding staff member.

From these award winners, an Employee of the Year recipient is selected.

The Staff Employee of the Year is awarded with a plaque and a performance bonus of $500.

Eligible staff members are general or professional staff members who have been employed at USAO for at least two years in a regular full-time or part-time position.
