Jerry Bennett -- 100 Alumni You Should Know

The characters in CBS’s The Big Bang Theory may love comics and sci-fi, but they’ve got nothing on 1993 USAO graduate Jerry Bennett. The full-time freelance artist can be seen at most Comic-Con events and he has worked for comic legends including Stan Lee.

In addition to creating art for Lee, Bennett has worked for Marvel, Lucasfilm and many others. He is actively involved this summer with Comic-Con, working on licensed art for Star Wars and with several comic book writers to create new comics locally. He also is producing an animated trailer for a Scholastic book coming out this fall.

Bennett has received several film festival awards, including Deadcenter awards for his work as a cinematographer, storyboard artist and art director for Even in Death, a short, animated film created with teams of students on the autism spectrum, produced by Autism Oklahoma.

He also won several awards for a comic book that served as an annual report for the Pioneer Library System. Bennett does original licensed Star Wars and Marvel art on sketch cards for Topps and Upper Deck trading cards.

“USAO endowed commitment to my passions as the artist I wanted to be and opened me to many worlds of art I hadn't considered before,” Bennett said. In addition to developing his art skills and his creativity during what he considers some of the very best years of his life, Bennett met a lot of people during his education at USAO.

“I forged lifelong friends with students and faculty that continue to this day. It instilled me with a confidence to live my dreams” Bennett said.
