Local Church Raises $800 for Books for Tots

USAO’s Books for Tots organization recently received a $1,600 gift in the form of two donations. Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church (COSLC) and Books for Tots raised $800, which was then matched by Thrivent Financial to purchase books for needy children through the Books for Tots program.

From left are Charles Wheeler, church council leader of COSLC, and Dr. Jeanne Mather, professor of education and director of Books for Tots. In its 12th year of community service, Books for Tots is spearheaded by the Student National Education Association and Kappa Delta Pi, USAO’s Education Honor Society. According to Mather, the goal of the organization is to equip local children with books of their own. Book and monetary donations still are being collected. More information is available from Mather by phone at (405) 574-1291.
