Melva was born on May 26th, 1932 in Cement, OK to Sidney and Junie May Bowerman. She was the youngest of six children. She spent most of her early life in Cement, except for two short stints in San Diego, CA. She received her bachelor's degree from the Oklahoma College for Women in 1953. She then taught business and typing at Grandfield High School in Grandfield, OK from 1953-1955. She married Joel Eugene Estes on October 12, 1956, and they moved south of Cement. They had three sons, Kimbel Eugene, Dana Joel and Stacy Kyle Estes. She was a devoted member of the Cyril Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading, playing games and spending lots of time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings: Ed Rollins, Doyle Rollins, Deoma (Rollins) Riley, Norma (Bowerman) Rackley, and Ivan Bowerman, and her husband. She is survived by three sons Kimbel Eugene Estes and wife Carol of Cement, OK, Dana Joel Estes and wife Teri of Devol, OK, and Stacy Kyle Estes and wife Bobbie of Marlow, OK, nine grandchildren: Tiffany, Joel, Craig, Meghan, Deven, Caitlin, Madalyn, Shelby, and Violet, and four great grandchildren: Evan and Kaia Morris, and Tristen and Ryan Estes.
