NYC tour announced for May 2013

The University of Science and Arts is sponsoring a six day, five night art and theatre tour to New York City that is planned for May 14 through May 19, 2013.

The tour will be led by emeritus faculty member Roger Drummond and Jacquelyn Knapp, associate professor of art.

The tour is open to students and members of the public alike, though those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult, parent or guardian.

USAO students may also earn Independent Study credit based on their participation in the tour. USAO has sponsored this trip every year for more than 25 years.

While in NYC, participants will have the opportunity to explore the city with as much or little oversight as they prefer.

“This is the perfect way to see New York City and to explore the sights,” Knapp says. “I love showing people how much fun and interesting it can be, no matter what your taste.  Our hotel is a short walk from Times Square and the Theatre District, plus it is surrounded by wonderful restaurants and lots of shopping.”

The cost of the tour varies depending on accommodation and travel decisions chosen by the individual participants but prices begin as low as $1699 or $1274 for land-only.

The trip includes round-trip airfare, transportation to and from the airport, five nights at the Wellington Hotel and tickets to two major Broadway plays.

In addition, participants can expect an orientation meeting, a talk at the Museum of Modern Art as well as a guidebook and map of New York City. Add-on packages are available that can include tickets to additional shows.

Placing a partial deposit of $100 now will reserve a spot on the tour with the full deposit of $300 due on March 1, 2013. All payments are refundable up through March 1, 2013. The total balance for the cost of the trip will be due by the first of April.
