Willanna Veit Klause was born July 10, 1925, in Broken Arrow, Okla. She died on April 9, 2015, at Madonna Towers in Rochester. Her parents, William H. Veit of Litchfield, Ill., and Frieda Rosina Quade of Sylvan Grove, Kan., raised Willanna and her three brothers - Evain, Melvin and Orville - on a farm in Lone Wolf, Okla. The family struggled and endured the hardships of the Dust Bowl years.

Gwen graduated from Central High School in OK City in 1944 and Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha in 1948 with a BA in music.

She married Leon Bert Null on December 24, 1944. After WWII they made their home in Chickasha, OK where she was a homemaker while attending Oklahoma College for Women.
