Planning is well underway for the OCLA Reunion at USAO June 24-27. Many of the reunion events are free and open to the public. OCLA Reunion Schedule June 24-27 at USAO



Music, food, games, a dance and a lot of good memories are all scheduled to be a part of the OCLA Reunion at the University of Science and Arts June 24-27.


Graduates of the Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts from 1965-1974 are invited to attend the reunion -- with several events open to current students and the general public.

The reunion is the second official get-together of the OCLA graduates. The group held a mini-reunion in 2008.


"We're working on the 'great reunion' spanning all OCLA years," said Kay Meadows Stockbridge, a 1971 graduate of OCLA and chair of the reunion planning committee. "Music, art, literary presentations, conversational panels and social opportunities are included on the agenda."


The planning committee includes Stockbridge, Mike Thompson, Debi Trout, Kathi Ambrogi, Terry Johnsen, Gordona Snow, Kip and Betty Smith, Jackie and Jim McCaughtry, Martin Reding, David Kueter, Eugene Earsom and Marilyn Feaver.


The event starts Thursday with registration in Te Ata Memorial Auditorium on the USAO campus. At 7:30 p.m., the reunion moves to the College Farm with barbeque by Jake's Rib and music by Randy Crouch and the Flying Horse Band. The public is invited to the barbeque and concert. Tickets are $10. The evening concludes with a midnight movie.


The reunion continues on Friday with registration at noon, followed by a spades

tournament from 1-3 p.m. At 3:15 p.m., nine OCLA faculty members and former OCLA President Robert L. Martin will be featured during OCLA: The Dream Fulfilled? The discussion will review the OCLA years and how that time formulated the current curriculum and character of USAO. The public and current students are invited to attend.


In addition to Martin, the panel discussion will feature OCLA faculty members Jerry Holt, Richard Massa, Teresa Ramirez Massa, Art Scott, J. Dexter Marble, Frank Dorman, Stuart Meltzer, Ingrid Shafer and Dorothy Marotte. An OCLA art show and reception is scheduled to follow the panel discussion at 5:30 p.m. A social mixer is scheduled to conclude the evening at 8 p.m.


The reunion begins early on Saturday in Shannon Springs Park with the OCLA Walk/Run Fundraiser at 9 a.m. A $25 donation to participate in the walk/run will benefit the OCLA Scholarship Fund. Writers presentations are scheduled from 11-12:30 p.m.


The OCLA Music Concert is scheduled Saturday from 1:30-3 p.m. in Te Ata Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public and will feature the music of Jon West.


The evening concludes at 7 p.m. with the Give Peas a Chance banquet in the Student Center Ballroom. Jerry Holt, an OCLA professor who is now with Purdue University, will be the keynote speaker for the banquet. The banquet is followed by the Come As You Were dance featuring Jim McCaughtry and the Geezers.


The reunion concludes Sunday morning with a memorial service followed by a dove release in memory of those associated with OCLA.
