CHICKASHA – Chickasha’s premier performing arts series kicks off Sept. 18 with a house-stompin’ evening of fiddles, banjo and more when the Byron Berline Band takes the stage at the University of Science and Arts.
CHICKASHA – While many artists would see a physical impairment as a disability, Tim Sullivan exploits it: he’s dyslexic. Beginning Aug. 29, the international exhibitor and award-winning artist will display his original prints and ceramics at the University of Science and Arts.
CHICKASHA – When Joe Settlemires signed on to play at a tribute concert this summer, he didn’t just salute one of jazz guitar’s greatest musicians; he performed alongside some of the greatest jazz guitarists to date.
At the annual Charlie Christian International Jazz Festival in Oklahoma City this June, Settlemires opened for the jazz quintet The Yellowjackets, members of which he played with 30-40 years ago.
CHICKASHA –The end of Freshman Orientation brings the beginning of a new school year at the University of Science and Arts. Fall classes begin Aug. 27 at Oklahoma’s public liberal arts college. Enrollment continues through Aug. 31.
USAO’s Marcie Price, graphic designer, stars in the leading role of Shelby in the Chickasha Community Theatre production of “Steel Magnolias” this weekend. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday in the Davis Hall Theatre, with a matinee Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets at the door are $8 for adults and $5 for students 18 and under.
