Mildred Pierce, resident of Ponca City and former resident of Tulsa, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Via Christi Village. She was 95 years old. The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 5, at Restland Cemetery in Boswell. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory. Mildred was born on Sept. 28, 1917, to the late George Turner and Lola Slinkard in Bokchito.


She graduated from Ardmore High School in 1930, and attended the Oklahoma College of Women and majored in elementary education. Mildred was married to Clark P. Pierce on April 14, 1944. She worked as a school teacher in Boswell, then later in cosmetology in Tulsa. She was involved with the United Methodist Women, Book Club, PTA, and Garden Club in Tulsa.


She is survived by her sister, Betty Baker of Dallas, Texas; three children, David and wife, Vesta of Blackwell, James Pierce and wife, Candi, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Lou Ann Vaught of Cordova, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, James Hepler, Dana Busselman, Renee Stambaugh, Lana Veytia, Nick Pierce, Brandon Pierce, Christopher Pierce, and Remengton Pierce; and eight great-grandchildren, Deserae Busselman, Bryan Hepler, Mark Hepler, Pearl Braga, Pierce Braga, Sydney Pierce, Leila Pierce, and Addison Stambaugh. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and daughter, Jan Hepler. Casket bearers will be David Pierce, James Pierce, Brandon Pierce, Geoff Veytia, Geoff Braga, Adam Stambaugh, and Steve Baker.
