USAO Awards Convocation Planned for April 13
CHICKASHA – The inaugural Awards Convocation honoring outstanding student achievement is set for April 13 in the Student Center Ballroom at the University of Science and Arts.
“This event is a great opportunity to recognize all the outstanding students here at USAO,” said Dr. Eloy Chavez, dean of student services. “From all the departmental awards to the national honors, this awards convocation proves that USAO attracts the best and brightest young people in the region.”
Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. with a Concert Choir performance following. The awards presentation will begin at noon and will include the George Austin Award for campus leadership, the Te Ata Award for Creative Expression, the Gladys Anderson Emerson Award for Undergraduate Research and the Distinguished Graduate Awards for each division.
The lunch is free, but students, faculty and staff who wish to attend must RSVP with Sherry Lynch by phone at (405) 574-1278 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org by April 11.
Individual awards will be given, and students earning distinctions as members of the President’s Leadership Council, Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities and Works of Distinction will be honored.
Student-athletes who excelled in the classroom will be recognized as well with the naming of the Bill Smith Scholar Athlete Awards and this year’s NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
