USAO Faculty Plan Italy, Costa Rica Trips for 2010
For people making travel plans for 2010, faculty at the University of Science and Arts have two trips scheduled featuring the art and culture of Italy and the tropical climate and diverse ecosystems of Costa Rica.
Making plans early to be a part of the Costa Rica trip has its advantages, says Dr. Stephen Weber, associate professor of music at USAO and leader of the trip. “We’re advertising this tour now because the tour company is presently offering a $100 discount until the end of March, making the student cost only $1,680 and the adult cost $2,015 for the Costa Rica trip."
The fees for the Costa Rica trip pay for round trip airfare, eight nights in hotels, all meals and entrance fees and a bilingual tour guide. The trip, arranged through EF Educational Tours, is scheduled May 18-26, 2010. The trip to Italy is also scheduled for May 2010. Both trips depart from Oklahoma City.
"The trip will feature exploration of the various ecosystems in Costa Rica, ranging from sandy Pacific beaches to mountain ranges to tropical rainforests. Participants will visit the National Institute of Biodiversity, hot springs, a volcano, waterfalls, national parks, go kayaking and experience a cloud forest canopy tour. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to plant a tree in a Costa Rican forest and visit a school and interact with children.
“Costa Rica is a fascinating country, host to hundreds of species of birds, mammals and butterflies. It should be a great tour for anyone interested in the natural sciences, ecology, exotic animals and plants," Weber said.
Individuals interested in the Costa Rica trip should contact Weber at 405-574-1295 or email@example.com before March 31 to take advantage of the discount.
Jacquelyn Knapp, assistant professor of art, will lead an art and culture trip to Italy in May 2010. Planning for the trip is underway and details will be available soon. For more information, contact Knapp at 405-574-1303 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
