VIGIL, Thaymeus B.
Thaymeus Bitseedy Vigil was born on April 17, 1928 in the country near Fort Cobb, Oklahoma to Clayton and Catherine Bitseedy as one of 11 children. She graduated from the Riverside Indian School in 1947, studied voice and earned a degree at Bacone College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from the Oklahoma College for Women in 1954.
After graduation Thaymeus moved to New Mexico to teach elementary school where she met her husband Charlie Vigil with whom she had five children, who, in turn gave her eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Since 1954 she has lived in New Mexico and Oregon and made many visits to her family in Oklahoma, which she always considered home. Thaymeus is survived by her children - Orren Vigil, Tenley Vigil, Darren Vigil, TeAda Vigil, and Charla Lowenstein; her grandchildren - Star Lujan, Tavila Vigil, Tsumi Mae Bailey, Natachee Vigil, Micah Lowenstein, Tai Vigil, and Kaileah Lowenstein, and her great grandchildren - Jasmine Vigil, Antonio Vigil, Ember Kalani Couceyro and her niece Gloriette Miles of Fort Smith, Arkansas and many, many other beloved nieces and nephews.
