SHAWNEE – Hours before the men’s basketball team pulled off the upset of the year by eliminating second-ranked Oklahoma Baptist from the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament, the Bison pulled off an upset of their own.

OBU used a 10-run seventh inning to rally past the University of Science and Arts, 15-5, in Thursday’s nine-inning series opener.

USAO scored two first-inning runs and kept OBU at bay with runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. But the floodgates opened in the seventh as the Bison scored 10 runs on seven hits and two USAO errors.

The loss drops USAO to 18-3 overall and 5-2 in league play. OBU improves 13-6 and 2-5. The conference series concludes with a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Bill Smith Ballpark.
