CHICKASHA – After throwing a complete game shutout against the tough eighth-ranked Oklahoma Baptist, Eddie Cervantes was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Cervantes pitched all seven innings in the Drovers’ lone 1-0 win against the Bison. He allowed just seven hits while throwing three strikeouts.

It is the first Pitcher of the Week honor for the Drover baseball team this season. Jared Coon was named Player of the Week twice.

Cervantes has pitched more than 75 innings this season — by far the most of any of the other Drover pitchers — and has seen 13 starts. Additionally, he leads the team in strikeouts thrown with 55 on the season.

Cervantes joined the Drovers this season from Western Oklahoma State. He is originally from Dover and is the son of Humberto Cervantes and Hortencia Ramirez.
