CHICKASHA – Batting .500 on the week with seven runs and 12 RBIs propelled junior Jared Coon to be named the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

The Drovers played Friends University on Tuesday before taking on the three-game series against conference foe Southern Nazarene.

Coon’s two home runs in a home game against SNU batted all five runs of the game in to give the Drovers the 5-2 victory. He had a home run in the previous game on Thursday against SNU. In that game, he had four RBIs.

Coon, USAO’s starting left fielder, has a season batting average of .400 and has scored 19 runs on the season. He also leads the team with 24 RBIs for the season.

The junior from Shawnee comes in first in the NAIA in total doubles with 11 and first with a perfect fielding percentage. He’s also fifth in total bases with 54 and ninth in home runs with five on the season.

Coon joined the Drovers this season from McNeese State University. He is a sociology major and is the son of Russ and Alana Coon.
