CHICKASHA – The No. 11 Oklahoma Baptist Bison proved too much for the Drovers on Thursday afternoon as USAO dropped 13-3 to the powerful hitters.
It is the first time the undefeated Bison (17-0, 4-0) have allowed a team to score three runs against them.
With the game ending in eight innings, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (8-8, 0-4) will look to take the series win in Friday evening’s doubleheader in Shawnee. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
The Drovers got in a 3-0 hole, but grabbed the first run in the bottom of the first on a Rafael Pena sacrifice fly to score Ryan Wescott to cut the deficit.
The second run can an inning later on another sacrifice fly. This time Wescott’s fly out scored designated hitter Spenser Mailman.
The final run scored in the seventh inning off a single by Chris Musick. Right fielder Joe Black scored on the play.
Musick went 2-for-3 at the plate on Friday, including an RBI single, and Mailman went 2-for-4 and crossed home plate once in the game.
Friday’s games at OBU will be a two seven inning double header and will be broadcast live on OBU's athletic website.
The next home series will be against non-conference Roosevelt University on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled at 1 p.m.
