The Drovers continue to have mixed success in conference games after a loss to Rogers State in the first game of a three-game series.

USAO gave up nine runs in the first five innings, while only scoring three in the same time. The Drovers were defeated 11-7.

Right fielder Greg Ylda averaged .500 at bat against the Hillcats and scored two runs for the Drovers, while Andrew Reyes, who played designated hitter on Thursday, went three for five with two RBIs. He also scored a run.

Junior Caleb Martin started out on the mound on Thursday, and senior Alfonso Cardenas pitched the last three innings. Cardenas allowed only four hits and two runs in his three innings. He struck out three batters as well.

The Drovers are 22-11 overall and 7-9 in conference play. They will finish the series against Rogers State on Saturday for a doubleheader.

They will play again at home against Cameron University at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
