PLAINVIEW, TEXAS – Despite two Drover homers, USAO fell to the Rogers State Hillcats in the first game of the Sooner Athletic Conference baseball tournament.
With a 1-0 deficit, the Drovers scored their first run in the top of the third inning when catcher Blake Taylor hit his first home run of the season to tie to game.
USAO fell behind again in the bottom of the inning, but leading off in the fourth, Brandon Jewett hit another homer – a solo and his 11th home run of the season.
The Drovers tried five pitchers on the mound, but they weren’t able to contain the strong Hillcat hitters. USAO fell 18-2.

In turn, Rogers State will take on Oklahoma City at 2 p.m. at Wayland Baptist University. Oklahoma City defeated OC also Wednesday. The team with the highest record in the tournament will continue on to the conference championship on Saturday.
