CHICKASHA – After one of the best performances of his career, University of Science and Arts’ Nate Hammons was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for March 23-29.

Hammons, a junior from Fort Cobb, tossed a two-hit shutout at No. 19 Wayland Baptist Saturday. He struck out 10 and walked four in the complete-game victory as the Drovers won game two 5-0 and took two of three from WBU in a crucial series.

USAO’s all-time strikeout leader, Hammons has matched his 62 strikeouts from his sophomore season and has 22 Ks in two career games against WBU. The Drovers are 26-6 overall and play a Tuesday doubleheader at Hillsdale College before a weekend series against No. 1 Lubbock Christian.

LCU (29-4) visit Bill Smith Ballpark for a three-game series beginning at 2 p.m. Friday. The series concludes with a nine-inning game at 1 p.m. Saturday.
