CHICKASHA – After postponing Saturday games, the Drovers split in a Sunday doubleheader against the University of Saint Mary’s.

The Drovers earned the win in game two of the doubleheader thanks to back-to-back home runs.

In the second inning, first baseman Zach Gonzales scored a run off an RBI by shortstop Konrad Mueller, giving the Drovers had a 1-0 lead.

Two innings later, Owen Adams hit his first home run of his college career. The very next at bat, Mueller hit an in-the-park home run just over the centerfielder’s head.

The Drovers won the game 3-1.

Adam Wilson saw his first appearance on the mound for USAO in game two, throwing four strikeouts in six innings. He didn’t give up a single run. Junior Josh Goodman earned the save.

The game followed a tough 2-1 defeat in game one — a game that saw five double plays between the two teams.

The Drovers gave up two runs in the first inning and scored their lone run in bottom of the fourth when Blake Taylor singled to left field, scoring Gonzales.

Eddie Cervantes threw the complete game. He threw seven strikeouts.

The Drovers are 6-5 overall. They take on Bethany College on Tuesday afternoon at home for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. before beginning conference play at Oklahoma City on Thursday afternoon.
