CHICKASHA – Now already halfway through the baseball season, the Drovers have faced some tough Sooner Athletic Conference opponents, but catcher Blake Taylor isn’t worried about the next four weeks.

“It’s just time to start playing ball and winning games like we know how we can do,” Taylor said. “The tougher of our schedule is behind us so we’re looking forward to the rest of the season and winning some games.”

Playing as a youngster, Taylor bounced around positions before finding his natural fit behind the plate.

“My dad was a catcher so it’s just kind of in my blood I guess,” he said. “It’s just something I like to do, just control the game from my side of it … the little parts of the game that a lot of people don’t see.”

The former Fightin’ Chick said he was eager to get out of Chickasha immediately after high school, but after finding himself at a junior college in Kansas, he knew where he wanted to be.

“I couldn’t wait to get back. I guess I’m just an Oklahoma guy,” he said.
