CHICKASHA – As the Drover baseball team begins to wrap up non-conference play, junior pitcher Jason England said the team is becoming one and is ready to begin conference action in the tough Sooner Athletic Conference.

“Everybody is kind of picking up where they need to pick up,” he said. “Everything looks great as a team. We just need to find out who can produce when we need it the most. Everyone is coming together as a family.”

In his first season at USAO, England has some set some team and personal goals he hopes to help the Drovers accomplish.

“For the team, I want to pick up where they left off last year, and hopefully, go farther and win the conference and make it to nationals,” England said. “As a personal goal, I just want to go out there every time and give my team a chance to win.”

It was the tight-knit kinship of USAO that led England to the baseball program from his Texas junior college, he said.

“It was the family atmosphere,” he said. “When you’ve got all your teammates that are there as a family, it feels great because you can go out there and do badly and they’ve got your back. You do well, and they’re there for you all the time.”
