CHICKASHA – Both Drover basketball teams fought tough in the their conference openers against Saint Gregory’s University, but neither were able to overcome the Cavaliers.

Senior Aita Gueye scored 20 for the USAO women, sinking 75 percent of her three-pointers on the night. She had four rebounds as well.

Tiffany Jupin and Korie Hargus scored another eight and nine respectively. Hargus had five rebounds, and senior Annitra Walls had six rebounds and six points.

Despite their efforts, the Drovers fell 72-64 on Thursday night at home.

The Drover men had similar luck against the Cavs. Thomas Peters had 21 points and three assists in the game. He made all of his five free throw attempts.

Sahlih Butts had 14 points and was the team’s highest rebounder with eight on the night. Graham Faulkner scored 13 for the Drovers.

SGU defeated USAO 78-73. The Drover basketball teams are both 4-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

It was Holiday Heroes Night and fans collected gifts to donate to the Salvation Army. The Drovers play next at home on Monday night, which is Grady County Night. Which town can bring out the most Drover fans? Tip off is at 6 and 8 p.m.
