CHICKASHA– The Drovers started off a weekend at the Saint Gregory’s Turkey Classic with a 86-81 win over McPherson College on Friday evening.
The University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma (2-4) will return to the court on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. against No. 24 Our Lady of the Lake.
With four players in double figures for the Drovers, it was USAO’s game from the time they took the lead with 17 minutes left in the second half. The team built up a 15-point lead and the defense kept a hold on the game by keeping the Bulldogs to 38 percent shooting in the half.
The Drovers’ leading scorer was Donnie Brown, who had a career best 26 points on 7-for-16 shooting. Brown also grabbed three assists in the game, while Kennis White was the leading rebounder with 11 grabs and 10 points. It was White’s first double-double of the season.
Tyler Reynolds led the way off the bench with 18 points and a team-leading four assists. David Tucker, Jr., was the last Drover in double figures, scoring 12 points and three assists on the game.
As a team, USAO shot a season-high 46 percent from the field, including 56.5 percent in the second half alone.
USAO will look to make it two wins in a row when they come back for seconds to tip off in game two of the Saint Gregory’s Turkey Classic on Saturday.
