CHICKASHA – The Drovers opened up the New Year with a 20-point upset over the No. 7 team in the country, conference foe John Brown.
On the road in a second Sooner Athletic Conference game of the season, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma secured a 79-59 in Arkansas on Thursday evening.
The game was the Golden Eagles’ (11-1, 1-1) first loss of the 2013-14 campaign and got the Drovers (4-5, 1-1) one game closer to the .500 mark on the year.
The Drovers had four players in double figures including Jahseth Lloyd, who came off the bench to lead the way with 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting. Lloyd, who saw the court for the first time this season went 4-for-4 at the charity stripe.
USAO’s David Tucker, Jr., contributed 13 points and a team-leading three steals. The Drovers held the advantage scoring 14 points off the 14 turnovers forced.
Kennis White had 12 points and led the team with seven rebounds, while season point leader Tyler Reynolds contributed 11 points in the win.
The largest lead for USAO came at the 9:28 mark in the second half when the Drovers led by 28, holding the lead for the entire game on the road.
USAO returns to action on Saturday afternoon against No. 19 Saint Gregory’s University with tip of coming at 5 p.m. in Chickasha.
The game will be broadcast live in high definition on USAO's athletic website and will be USAO’s annual City Workers Night, where employees of the City of Chickasha and surrounding communities enjoy free admission.
