CHICKASHA – The Drovers came from behind on Monday night to defeat conference rival Oklahoma Baptist 78-76 at the USAO Fieldhouse.
The Bison (12-12, 6-8) had control of the game until the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (11-10, 8-6) started to narrow the gap in the middle of the second half.
The Drovers took their first lead of the night with 4:15 remaining in the game when Shavon Scott nailed a timely three pointer. USAO went on an 11-point run before conceding OBU’s next basket.
The game went down to the wire as OBU began a rally, but USAO prevailed for the team’s third win in a row.
Tyler Reynolds led the team in scoring with 21 points and five assists on Monday night. Reynolds shot 5-for-9 from the field and sunk nine of his 11 free throws on the night.
Shavon Scott shot 50 percent from the field in the game, notching 16 points, three rebounds and two assists.
David Tucker, Jr., and Jahseth Lloyd each scored 12 points to add to the Drovers’ total. Lloyd, the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week, boasts 13 games in a row in the double figures in scoring.
As the team, USAO shot 50 percent from the field and 45 percent from beyond the arc.
The match up originally was scheduled for December but the game was snowed out in one of Chickasha’s early season bouts of winter weather.
The Drovers travel to (24) Saint Gregory’s on Thursday night before returning home to battle John Brown on Saturday. Tip off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
