CHICKASHA – With basketball season right around the corner, Head Coach Brisco McPherson is looking forward to showing off his team and seeing just exactly what they’ve got for the 2012-13 season.
Much like last year, McPherson describes his players as true athletes, who just might be able to put on a show for Drover fans.
“We want to play up tempo, and we want to try to get easy opportunities whenever we can,” he said. “Any opportunity we get we are going to try to run and get some dunks and get the crowd involved. We’ve got some athletes. When you have guys that can do that, you want to utilize it.”
After a few weeks of practice and a scrimmage under their belt, McPherson said the players have looked pretty good and that he is hopeful for the season.
“They’re doing well. I’ve been impressed with how they’ve practiced,” he said. “So it’s progressing. We’re trying to work up to our first game and be our best against Northwestern.”
The Drovers open the season for their Homecoming game against Northwestern Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. Nov. 1 in the USAO Fieldhouse.
“It will be a big test for our guys,” McPherson said. “It will be a tough opener for us but it will give us a good indication of where we are with our team.”
