Two Drover men were named basketball All-Conference athletes in the Sooner Athletic Conference this week.

Fred Savoie
Drover Junior Fred Savoie was named All-SAC Third Team in his first season in the conference.

Savoie scored 389 points for USAO, averaging 16.21 a contest. He shoots 51.5 percent from the field (No. 41 in the division) and sinks his free throws more than three-quarters of the time.

The well-rounded player also had 140 rebounds for USAO. During the season, he recorded five double doubles.

Savoie is No. 4 in the conference in blocks per game as he averages 1.08, and sixth in total blocks with 26.

Savoie is a physical education junior from Opelousas, La.

N’Faly Berete
Senior Center N’Faly Berete also was named an Academic All-SAC.

The accounting senior is from Conakry, Guinea and plans to stay in the U.S. to work after he graduates from USAO in the fall.

The lone senior played in 27 games, averaging 3.93 points and 5.52 rebounds a game. His career-high 12 points — and first double double of the season — came in the Drovers’ last game of the season against then No. 3 Oklahoma Baptist.

He joined the team and university in 2008 from Monroe College.
