CHICKASHA – Because of his above-and-beyond attitude and his consistently happy demeanor, Coach Vinson Metcalf received the Regents Staff Association Award for the third quarter of the 2010-11.
“Coach Metcalf is always smiling and helps out in any way possible in many aspects most people do not even realize,” one colleague said in a nomination of Metcalf. “Without a doubt, he is very deserving of this award.”
Metcalf, men’s assistant basketball coach and director of intramurals, gave a little speech when he was given the award Thursday morning at the regular Staff Association meeting. He said he couldn’t find the words to describe how much the recognition meant to him.
Metcalf received multiple nominations for the award. Another colleague said, “His personality radiates a warmth that makes our campus environment inviting to all that visit … Coach Metcalf goes beyond his coaching commitments and does so much more for the greater good of our students.”
The Regents Staff Achievement Award is presented quarterly to one outstanding staff member. From these award winners, an Employee of the Year recipient is selected. Presenting the award is Kellie Driscoll, administrative assistant and recipient of the 2009-10 Employee of the Year Award.
