CHICKASHA– The second season for Drover men’s cross country came to an end at the Sooner Athletic Conference meet on Saturday morning and runners saw personal records in the race.
Since the final meet only having three University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma runners, the Drovers didn’t qualify for a team score.
Head Coach Leandra Johnson anticipated this season would be tough with injuries but was happy to see the determination of her team in the final meet.
“It was a long season plagued with injuries but I’m proud of how we fought through to finish strong at conference,” she said.
Freshman Elias Poolaw had his best 8-kilometer time, finishing almost 40 seconds earlier than his personal best. Poolaw completed he race with a time of 29:54, which was good enough for a finish in 51st place in the meet.
Senior Kieran Brennan also set a personal record with an even 31:00 finish time.
Sophomore Jeffery Poolaw rounded up the Drovers final meet of the 2013 season with a time of 32:52.
With only one senior on the team this year and several runners setting personal records, the team is looking to build the future with this seasons success.
