The USAO Drovers men's soccer team shut out the Tabor College Bluejays Saturday after recent shutout victories over Bacone College and Texas Wesleyan.
USAO men started scoring early in the game as David Otieno scored a goal at the 9:38 minute marker, off an assist by Gavin Otieno. Three minutes later, Nikola Cakarevic found a hole in the defense and scored a goal off an assist by David Otieno at the 12:28 minute mark.
The Drovers had a 2-0 lead twelve and a half minutes in the game and as the game progressed, David Otieno found another opening and used it to score his second goal at the 41:03 minute marker. He was assisted by Lasse Hupfield and Alvar Rodriguez. Then, not one minute later, Jake Cottage found Alvar Rodriguez open and Alvar scored off Jake Cottages assist.
The second half was quiet but intense and neither team scored a goal. The Bluejay defensive showed up to play for the second half of the game, stopping the Drovers from scoring again. The Drover men won the game with a final score of 4-0 and the Drovers now have a 7-1 record.
The Drovers advance to No. 2 in the regional rankings and are scheduled to play at 7 p.m. Sept. 29 against No. 4 ranked Oklahoma Christian for their first conference game. Then on Oct. 2, the Drover men will face off against Mid-America Christian at 3 p.m. at Drover Pitch for their second conference game of the season.
