CHICKASHA– The winning streak continues for the Drover men’s soccer team, which is receiving votes in latest national poll. The Drovers grabbed a 2-0 victory against Southwestern Assemblies of God on Tuesday afternoon.
With the win the Drovers (10-4, 7-1) make it six in a row with the last loss for the team coming at the beginning of October.
The win also will give the Drovers their seventh shutout of the year and kept USAO at No. 2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The game-winning goal came from sophomore Kyle Maxwell, who headed the ball just 54 seconds into the game. The assist came from sophomore Stephen Owusu, who passed the ball right to Maxwell for the goal.
The Drovers also got a goal in the 83rd minute of the game from sophomore Niall Burley, who sent the ball over the goalkeeper’s head from 30 yards out.
USAO kept SAGU from their side of the field with a 20-5 shot advantage and making it difficult for the Lions to score.
Bryan Byars (10-4) notches his sixth shutout of the year, which adds to his already record breaking 27 shutouts for his USAO career.
The Drovers will look to continue their winning streak on Friday afternoon when the team will take on Oklahoma City University at 3 p.m.
It will be USAO’s Senior Day and the game will feature live stats and video on USAO's athletic site.
