CHICKASHA– The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma men’s soccer team gets a unique opportunity this preseason to travel to Tulsa to take on NCAA Division I Oral Roberts University.

The exhibition will take place at 5:45 p.m. Friday at the Case Soccer Complex on the campus of ORU. It is the first time the Drovers take on the Golden Eagles.

This is the second preseason match for both teams having each previously taken on Oklahoma Wesleyan University.

Drover Head Coach Jimmy Hampton said they aren’t thinking about the stiff competition a big-time DI school offers.

“We are looking forward to the match, but we will treat it as just another preseason match,” Hampton said.

The exhibition gives Hampton and his coaching staff an opportunity to check out the team, before the season official begins.

“We will try to play a lot of players, see a few different combinations and come out of the game hopefully answering all of our questions as we gear up for our opener,” he said.

The regular season for the Drovers begins with a two game road trip on Aug. 28 and 30 before the team’s home opener against Our Lady of the Lake at 3 p.m. Sept. 5

After the conclusion of the game, USAO will host their Alumni Game, where current Drovers will take on former USAO athletes. Both games are free and open to the public.

ORU will be offering live free video (once the contest starts) and stats. See live stats here and live video here.
