CHICKASHA–It took 94 minutes to finish the game, but in a tough hard fought battle the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (1-1) fall to Kansas Wesleyan (1-0) with a final of 2-1.
The offensive effort for either team didn’t start until the second half of action with Kansas Wesleyan scoring first just four minutes into the half.
The equalizer would come in the form of Kyle Maxwell who got his first goal of the season in minute No. 55, and from there the defense picked up to make sure the game was sent to overtime.
Both teams got 10 shots in the game, but it was the final shot of the evening that would be the difference maker as the Drovers gave up a goal to Joe Robb who scored both goals for the Coyotes.
With the loss the Drovers will finish their two game road trip to start the season and head home to get back in the win column with the first of six games at home.
The home opener will be at 3 p.m. on Friday Sept. 5 against Our Lady of the Lake and the Drovers will try to end the losing streak at one.
Following the home opener, USAO will host an Alumni Game for former players to once again don the Drover uniform. The opener and the Alumni Game will be free and open to the public.
