CHICKASHA – USAO’s first exhibition game went well for Drover coaches and athletes, who were ready to show their skill and prepare for the upcoming season on Tuesday afternoon against Southwestern Christian.

The Drover women spent the majority of the game on the attack, giving up no shots. They had 25 shots of their own, but junior Calli Cooper was the only one to find the net in the first half off an assist from freshman Brooke DeGraffenreid.

Sophomore Addie Tipton spent the entire game in the box.

Cooper led the team in shots with eight, followed closely with seven by Brennan Miller, who comes the squad after two years with USAO basketball.

On the other hand, several of the men got a piece of the ball with nine of the Drovers shooting on Tuesday. But it was one of the last year’s stars, Nicolas Alberto, who scored two goals for the Drovers. Assisting his goals were Luka Rasovic, Dusan Rasovic and John Gardner.

The other USAO goal was knocked in by Tyrone Tarbitt off an assist by newcomer Alex Rubio.

Starting the game as keeper was newcomer and sophomore Brian Byars, who recorded a save. Third-year Drover Ryan Mcentee tended the goal in the second half, earning two saves.

The Drovers continue preseason play with exhibitions on Wednesday. The men will take on Oklahoma Wesleyan at 2 p.m. at home and the women will travel to Southwestern Oklahoma to play at 5 p.m.
