CHICKASHA – The Drover soccer teams continued both their home and their conference success with wins each against Mid-America Christian University on Tuesday afternoon.

The USAO women battled for much of the game, and the teams went into halftime scoreless. It wasn’t until the 57-minute mark when junior Calli Cooper whizzed a goal by MACU’s keeper.

The women held the lead to win it 1-0. Addie Tipton earned the win and shutout after making two saves in the game.

The Drovers outshot their opponents 29-13 in the game.

The USAO men made quite a showing Tuesday afternoon, grabbing five goals in a shutout over the Evangels and dominating most of the game. The Drovers outshot the Evangels 32-5.

Less than 15 minutes into the game, Luka Rasovic had an unassisted goal to give the Drovers a lead. Just minutes later, Scott Parkinson headed one in off a corner kick by Niall Crick.

Not satisfied with a 2-0 lead, Crick then scored on a bicycle kick sent to him by Sam Shaddick. The Drovers entered halftime up 3-0.

The team knocked another two goals in within minutes of each other in the second half when Modesto Arostegui found Nicolas Alberto for a goal, and then Perry Sansford’s penalty kick gave USAO its final goal.

Bryan Byars, who had two saves, earned the shutout and win.

The Drover men are 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The women are 9-2 and 4-1 in conference play.

On Thursday, the Drovers return for another home game against Wayland Baptist, beginning at 2 p.m. for the women and 4 p.m. for the men. They will play in their first ever Pink Game on Saturday at Drover Pitch.
