CHICKASHA – Drover Head Coach Jimmy Hampton was named the National Soccer Coaches Association and NAIA Southwest Region Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.
Hampton and the other regional coaches of the year will be honored at a College Coaches Awards Reception on Jan. 13 at the NSCAA Convention in Baltimore.
“I am honored to receive the NSCAA/NAIA Regional COY as a representative of USAO,” Hampton said. “I share this with Assistant Coach Alexis Vizarelis, along with coaches Tony Orsi, Eric Clopton and Tommy Hubbard. I have been blessed with such quality assistants. I also share it with my team, for without them, nothing is possible.”
Hampton received the honor after leading the Drover men to a first-ever quarterfinal appearance in the NAIA Men’s Soccer Championship.
The Drovers had one of the best records (16-5) in the 13-year history of the program.
Hampton was been the head of both the women’s and men’s soccer programs since they began in 1998. He has a combined 288-173-27 record with both programs.
He also was named NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year and Sooner Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2009.
