CHICKASHA – The Drover men have started off the season trading wins with their opponents, but the one consistent thing about the Drovers is their ability to progress as the season proceeds, which is exactly what junior Nat Scott says will happen.

“Unfortunately, some of the results haven’t gone our way,” Scott said. “We are looking to improve on that as the season continues.”

Originally a defender, Scott has been playing forward some this year, but he said his role on the team goes beyond his position.

“I think work rate is one of my better abilities … I just to try to work hard and help others out. That is my role on the team,” Scott said.

With a rough start to the season, the Drovers can’t rely on national rankings to send them to the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship tournament. They will need to win the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament, but Scott said the emphasis of the coaches and team hasn’t changed.

“I feel like our focus, what our coaches drum into us, is to try to be 1-0 each game,” he said. “Whether we are in the rankings or not, we still want to win every game. We still want to play to the best of our abilities.”
