CHICKASHA – The Drovers clinched their ninth regular season conference championship with a 1-0 win at Northwood University in the team’s Tuesday afternoon game.

Coming in as top seed, the Drovers (12-4, 9-1) will host the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament throughout the event, which is set to begin on Friday. Tournament schedules are expected to be released Wednesday.

“I’m proud of the men to fight back after early season losses,” head coach Jimmy Hampton said. “We always want to represent USAO well in the Sooner Athletic Conference, and this group has done that by winning another league title. Those are not easy in this tough conference.”

The Drovers secured their victory on Tuesday with a goal from defender Scott Parkinson, who netted the game winner off an assist by Liam Madden.

Keeper Bryan Byars grabbed his seventh shut out of the season and 28th in his career at USAO.

Also Tuesday, the Drovers found their way back into the NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll, resting at No. 24 heading into post-season. The winner of the SAC Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship Tournament.

The conference tournament is set for Nov. 8-14. See USAO's sports site for details on SAC Tournament.
