CHICKASHA – The Drovers are will need to battle through multiple injuries to find their way into the national tournament, as senior Daniel Gibson knows all too well.
After losing All-American David Otieno to a knee injury, the men lost a tough match against Oklahoma City but so far have defeated two other Sooner Athletic Conference opponents. Now, Gibson says, the Drovers may be working without team captain Sam Shaddick and mid-fielder Dusan Rasovic, who were both injured Tuesday against Mid-America Christian.
“I wouldn’t say we’ve lost our way, but we’re struggling up front,” Gibson said. “We’re just trying to figure it out for ourselves right now up top to see who’s going to be our scorer.”
In Tuesday’s game, the Drovers went into double overtime, and Richard Norman scored with just a minute left in the second overtime.
“It was a huge relief, really, when the goal went in. It was a tough game for us … We played well and we competed with them, but it wasn’t really happening up front,” he said. “I think it would have been a major disappointed if it had finished a tie.”
