CHICKASHA – In his mid-20s, Scott Parkinson decided to move 4,500 miles from home in Liverpool, England, to attend school and play soccer here at USAO.

Parkinson, 26, came to visit senior John Gardner for three weeks in the summer of 2009 and quickly fell in love with the university, the city and the life.

“When I came here, I just loved the lifestyle,” Parkinson said. “And I thought I wanted a little bit of that myself.”

Parkinson left his home the day after Christmas and hasn’t been home since. While leaving home has been tough, Parkinson said he’s living a dream.

“It’s a dream I’m always wanted to do,” he said. “I love it here. I’ve got no aspirations of going anywhere else.”

Parkinson said he is glad to be playing soccer for USAO. As a freshman, he has already become an integral part of the Drover defense.
