SHAWNEE – The Drovers end one of the best seasons in school history with an extra-innings loss at the hands of host No. 13 Oklahoma Baptist in their final game of the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament.

It was the second game in a row that was forced into extra innings for the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (37-24). The Lady Bison (43-15) came from behind to take the 4-1 win in eight innings.

The first run of the game came from a solo bomb over the center field fence by senior Sara Reeves in the bottom of the fifth. It was her second homer of the year and her sixth as a Drover.

The seventh inning continued to be the Drovers’ Achilles heel in the SAC Tournament as the Lady Bison loaded the bases and were able to score one, forcing the game into the bottom of the seventh. Even though the game took place at Lady Bison Park, the Drovers were playing as the home team.

USAO batters had no luck in the bottom of the seventh, and the second Drover game in a row was sent to extra innings. In the eighth, OBU knocked in three more runs to take the lead and ultimately, the win.

Senior Brooke McLeod pitched a complete final game as a Drover, throwing five strikeouts. It was her 43rd complete game of her four-year career at USAO.

Neither team will go on to play in the SAC Championship on Saturday afternoon as Mid-America Christian clinched the pool title with two wins on Thursday. MACU will take on (17) Oklahoma City at 1 p.m. Saturday at OCU.
