CHICKASHA – The Lubbock Christian Lady Chaps proved their No. 7 preseason ranking with two wins over the Drovers on Thursday afternoon at Bill Smith Ballpark.

USAO struggled against the Chaps in game 1 and fell in game two despite a late rally.

Second baseman Skyler Nichols scored USAO’s lone run in the first game off an RBI by Kristin Moyers. The Drovers fell 7-1.

Nichols started game two with a run in the first inning off an RBI again from Moyers. But after giving up four runs, the Drovers found themselves in the bottom of the seventh down by three.

After accruing two immediate outs, the Drovers went on a rally, loading the bases. Both Brooke McLeod and Chelsea Zuchnik made it home before a caught fly ended the game with a 4-3 final.

The Drovers are 3-5 overall and now 1-3 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. USAO is hosting a tournament at the Chickasha Sports Complex on Friday and Saturday.

The tournament, which begins at 11 a.m. Friday, consists of four teams: McPherson College, Sterling College, Lubbock Christian and USAO. The Drovers may end up facing LCU again in Saturday afternoon’s bracket play.
