CHICKASHA – The Drovers enter the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament seeded sixth in their third conference tournament appearance in a row.

The tournament, which spans two days, begins at 11 a.m. Friday at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.

“If we come out with a solid defense and exploding bats like I know we can, we will make a tough run through the tournament,” Head Coach Jadyn Smith-Wallis said. “And that’s exactly what we are prepared to do.”

The tournament is a double elimination event. The SAC Championship game is scheduled for Saturday evening.

The Drovers (26-24) open the tournament against third-seeded Saint Gregory’s, who are 14th in the country. Their next game will be against second-seeded Oklahoma City or seventh-seeded Mid-America Christian.

Top-seeded Lubbock Christian is the only team to get a bye in the first round.

The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid to the 2013 NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round.
